Haha I always felt smug because I resisted watching Prison Break, but my auntie bought me seasons 1&2 on DVD and now I'm as addicted as all the other hopeless PB junkies out there. I just started Season 2.

I was going to wait until the summer when it probably wouldn't come at the cost of making my university offer but who gives a shit anymore I NEED MY FIX. A week ago I was motivated, sleeping under 3 hours a night and working for the rest of the day, but for the last couple of days I've just watched prison break for half the time and slept for the rest.

In other news I'm still thinking of waiting a year and reapplying to American universities.

I just got back from two weeks in the south of France. It was nice but really hot and there wasn't much to do. I found a gym on the second last day and there are tennis courts nearby, which are good, but I'd like more. We've gone to that same place a lot of times since I was about 2 I think. It's quite a secluded villa. There's a beach nearby but I don't have good French. Next year I'll be able to speak better, or preferably have a girlfriend :(

Here is a picture of me dealing cards, and here is a nice picture of one of my sisters (who wasn't in the pictures I posted a long time ago). This is a pretty cool fly. Sorry for sideways pictures.

I got 6 A*'s and 5 A's for my GCSEs, which is good enough for me to do what I want to and involved the absolute minimum of work, so I'm quite happy, even if it's worse than both my sisters.

I'm bored. Back to school on Wednesday to start my International Baccalaureate course, which is the sixth form exams (16-18). The exact moment I enter school grounds, I will be officially behind in my work for the course. That sort of precision laziness requires dedication, vision and planning. A lesser procrastinator would take a few hours at least to start spiralling towards failure. My subjects are higher Maths, higher English, higher Latin, standard Physics, standard Economics and standard Art History.

I was feeling pretty good about the next two years until I talked to my friend Sam who reminded me how much it's going to suck. We sat next to eachother in Latin for the last two years and managed to scrape through the course together. Sam and I are doing almost exactly the same subjects for IB, except he's doing Chemistry instead of Physics, and before most of our GCSE exams we were sitting in the library together cramming, having neither of us done any work previously while everyone else was talking about how they knew everything there was to know about the exam inside out and how it's pointless to work just before an exam. It's sort of comforting knowing that in about 19 months I'll probably be cramming with him in the exact same seats for the exams which will decide whether my entire school career was worth anything. Even when I'm doing my university exams, I'll know that somewhere out that, Sam is just as unprepared as I am.

I like solidarities like that.

My sister and mother just called me sexist for saying that guys make better riot police than girls. Apparently this is "unnacceptable".

It's raining so I'll probably have to play on a hardcourt later instead of grass. Boohoo.

Edit: I reread this entry and noticed I forgot to mention that I'm talking about tennis.

Ok, woah. So the algae eater fish thing in my aquarium died, so I went down to the fish place to buy a new one. Incidentally, those things stink like mothershit when they die, I wrapped it in 6 sheets of kitchen towel and a plastic bag, and if I held the bag near my nose I could still smell it. Dear lord. When the huge one died about a month ago, who was like a bit over 6 inches, I almost died from the smell. Grossest thing ever.

So I thought I'd try something else. I got this snail that eats algae apparently. In the bag it just hid in the shell, but then when I got home and put the bag down, it revealed itself in all its glory. My inital reactions were something like,

Man, it is one badass snail. If I disappear, it's because it learned to breathe air, crawled out of the aquarium at night, crawled up the stairs and into my room, up my bed onto my forehead, and devoured my soul.

I was going to take a picture, but the camera only takes crappy blurry pictures through the aquarium glass, but I did a little searching and I think it's an Apple Snail, although that picture does not do it justice. It waves its tenticles around and slides along creepily with its shell raised, it's like, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH".

Most badass snail ever

I had three exams today. Latin (language 2 + prose literature) , Russian writing and Biology. I wish I'd started revising before yesterday because I think I could have done better in Biology.

My Russian was a little... weird. It was all pretty normal until question 4, which is the main question. You had to choose from one of four problems, and one of them was smoking, so I chose that and started rambling about the most depressing life story I could articulate in Russian. This was the general gist of it: "When I was a child, my Dad smoked, so I started smoking too. I smoked almost the whole time, especially when my parents didn't get along with eachother, because I thought that they didn't love me. Then when I was 14 I fell ill and the doctor said that I would die in two years if I didn't stop smoking. So I stopped." Except I wrote 150 words embellishing it.

I was going to say that I hadn't stopped and was dying as I wrote it, but that was getting a little too far away from the question (they had a few points which you were meant to include). Then at the end I decided to leave a little note in with the english bullet points I wrote as a plan saying that it was made up so they wouldn't like, kill themselves or anything.

I never have to speak, write, read, hear or think another word of Russian in my life. Woooooo go me.

It's 06/06/06. Apparently the antichrist should have risen today and everyone should have died. I'm vaguely disappointed.

I got back from Scotland. Honestly I leave for a week and Kim's banned from WN. That's pretty annoying.

I have four pictures of me from Scotland because I don't think I've ever posted a picture of myself. I look pretty weird in all of them, which is irritating, but I think you can get the general idea. They're all from one day when we did this walk to a place called Loch Nagar and then walked up the hill next to it. I'm sorry for the HUGE file sizes and my family members being in them, but I can't be bothered to edit them.

1 Eating at the top. Look at my Mum's medusa-hair. It's just the wind, I hope.
3 Seriously weird expression. Is it anger? Confusion? Stupid-disease? WHO KNOWS?!
4 Me, reclining sensually ;/ I'm not sure why.

I pull some really bizarre expressions. I just realised my sister's in all of those, which is probably because they wre taken by my Dad who's sentimental.

This is the view from a little way up the side. We went around the left and you can just see the pile of rocks (called a cairn) on the far right that I was standing on in the first to pictures.

There may or may not be a few more coming depending on whether my sister sends me the pictures she took and whether there are any of me in them. Assuming you haven't already been turned to stone by Mum's medusa-hair or blinded by my weird face.

Oh, by the way, I need a forum other than WN now that Kim's been ban-stick'd. If anyone knows of any decent forums with a few interesting people, tell me.

I went down to the main road today and bought two books and a videogame. The videogame is Metroid Prime: Hunters for the Nintendo DS, and it seems pretty nice but all I'll done so far is the really easy first mission. I regret not picking up the GBA Metroid game which I don't have as well while I was there, I've forgotten what the name is though.

The two books are Black Swan Green, by David Mitchell, and Metamorphoses, by Ovid. I've read about a third of Black Swan Green today and it's really good. David Mitchell is a very talented auther who can use his language effectively to achieve the feelings he wants. I read Cloud Atlas by him last year, or the year before, I forget, and it's one of my favourate books. This is shaping up to be one also.

I haven't read any of Metamorphoses yet, save for the first page. Ovid was a Roman poet. Obviously the text I'm reading is a translation, but it seems very natural to read, which is nice because translations sometimes feel a little clunky. I think I might be studying part of it in Latin for Paper 1 next year, but I can't remember.

Thursday, the nasty exam day, was a bit of an anticlimax. It was long and work-heavy but I think they were all ok.

Anyway, I'm only really posting here because no one else has been and I feel obliged to try and break up the silence. Tomorrow I'm going to Aberdeenshire in Scotland for a week so I won't be around here.

(I just checked, and Ovid is only studied for Paper 1 at standard level Latin, but I'm doing it to higher level so I do Livy instead. I have no idea who he is. Wikipedia says he wrote "a monumental history of Rome, Ab Urbe Condita").

If you read all of this you're stupid
Gah. So it's my parents' silver wedding anniversary tomorrow and with both my sisters away at uni, it fell to me to buy them flowers. I got back from school at about 10:30 (I only had to go in for my Spanish listening exam, which was 45 minutes long), and went to the cashpoint on the main road to get some money to buy the flowers with.

However, I forgot the PIN code to my bank account, but I could remember roughly what it was, so I decided to guess a couple of times since the machine only eats it on the 4th try. OR SO I THOUGHT. Turns out it's on the 3rd try, so it was like "lol, no" and kept it. Which sucked.

Well anyway, I went home and got my passport and a bank statement and went down and explained to them how retarded I am, and they agreed to send me the card back in a few days and also send me a reminder of my PIN code, and let me get £40 out as well. So I spent £25 on the flowers and got myself some stationary for the rest of my exams and came home. I looked so ghey carrying a big bouquet of flowers all the way back to my house, and I'm not sure if they're even Mum's style anyway. I seriously suck when it comes to that sort of thing. Oh wellz.

I'm pretty worried about my exams on Thursday, and tomorrow. Tomorrow is Latin verse literature (we've studied a section of the Aeneid, by Virgil). That's not so bad, especially since it isn't until 2 o'clock so I have all of tomorrow to learn. Unfortunately, on Thursday I then have Spanish reading, Spanish writing, Russian reading, Russian listening and English literature (which is technically split into two papers). HELLA LAME. Plus I forgot all of the Russian that I learned for my oral a couple of weeks ago, which means I'm back to knowing nothing. The Spanish should be ok. I'll probably spend an hour or two working on it but that's all. It's Russian and English that are the real problems.

Luckily, after Thursday, I don't have to worry for ages. No exams on Friday and then it's half term holiday for a week, and I'm going up to Scotland (Aberdeenshire), which will be good. The week after that it's back to exams for a fortnight, but there's only one more sketchy day (I think it's Russian writing, Latin language 2 (the hard one) and Biology.

In fact, I'm so worried, that I'm going to go and actually do some work (WOW).

Oh, can someone tell me how to make it cut a section of this out, so that it only shows when you click on the whole entry and not when you're just viewing a friends page?

You know what I'd like to combine? Mini eggs, and Scarlett Johansen. That shit would rock. Crunchy, tasty, and insanely beautiful.

Someone get to work on it now plz!

In other news, my Russian oral was fine, I have a Latin exam tomorrow which should be ok, the rest of my exams start next Monday, and I'm scared I'm going to get fat and useless because I've stopped doing much exercise because of the exams but I still eat stupid amounts of meaty snacks.

I seriously like Ratatat. Sarah posted a song by them and I downloaded a bunch of others afterwards, and it's nice to listen to on the bus home. I'm always tired then and it's nice to gaze out the window and listen to it. Also Jets to Brazil.

I woke up at almost exactly 12 o'clock today. That jerk Kim kept up me until 2:15. I'd understand why she was never on at normal times if she was American or something, but she's not.

Anywho. I'd been planning on getting up at about 10 o'clock and finishing my maths coursework before I left, but I didn't, so I guess I'll have to suffer the consequences in a couple of days. Technically I'm still on holidays, but there's this extra Russian course I have to do yesterday and today, from 2 o'clock until twenty to six. What is a 20 minute journey to school by car becomes a one hour plus lottery based on how long you have to wait to get a bus to get to school, and it takes about an hour to have a bowl of cereal, take a shower, have an early lunch, find my iPod, update it, and walk to the main road where the bus stop is. So I was just on time. I read through the "current music" thing on Sarah's last 10 or so lj posts yesterday and downloaded a bunch of them, so it was nice to have something new to listen to on the bus. I liked most of it.

Russian was worth doing, but I am fucking tired now. Something interesting happened to my bag though. I'd been away for a few days last week, and a few pairs of black socks blended in with the bottom of my backpack (it's black), so I didn't realise they were still in there after I'd unpacked because it just looked like the bottom of my bag. So then today I put all my russian notes in, and a bottle of water, but it turned out that I hadn't put the cap on correctly because I was in a rush (it was on slightly wonkily). As it happened, the bottle had been put in upside down, and fell to the bottom of the bag before it started leaking. Because of this, even though over half of the bottle leaked, it all went into those socks instead of my russian notes, so only the bottom of them got at all wet. That is lucky and a half, because I would have been properly boned if those notes had been ruined. It was pretty weird finding a bunch of soaking wet socks at the bottom of my bag though.

Yeah. This post was going somewhere, but I've forgotten where, so I'm going to stop now.
12:03 am

This exam is seriously getting me down. Russian is a horrible language, especially in this kind of course (1 year, to do a 2 year course). And a horrible country too.
